At the beginning of quarantine, I wanted to find a way to bring my family across 7 different states together. I came up with a process to divide up a portrait into manageable pieces and them stitch it back together. This sparked my new and improved HEX-U project that was on pause due to COVID-19.

To start off 2021, I partnered with Randall Elementary School and Sun Prairie Area School District in Madison, WI to complete collaborative virtual portraits. With over 250 students ranging from 3rd-5th grade, we were able to create beautiful virtual portraits.

Students were also able to learn about groundbreaking female role models while completing this project. I wanted the students to learn critical art skills while connecting to the art and looking up towards powerful women from a young age.
